By Nathan Rode/Baseball America

There is a new face atop the Baseball America/National High School Baseball Coaches Association Top 25 as the previous No. 1, St. Francis High of Mountain View, Calif., went 1-3 and at Hard 9 National Classic in Anaheim. Owasso (Okla.) High takes over the top with a record of 26-1. The Rams edged out No. 2 Edison High of Huntington Beach, Calif. The Chargers moved up one spot from No. 3 after going 3-1 at the San Diego Lions Tournament, losing to Poway (Calif.) High. St. Francis fell to No. 10.

Knoxville’s Farragut High took a huge hit, falling out of the rankings from No. 8 after losing three more games. The Admirals have a tough road ahead as their ace, lefthander Philip Pfeifer will miss some time with tendinitis. Flanagan High of Pembroke Pines joined the rankings at No. 23. Last year’s team of the year, the Falcons are about to wrap up their season and head into another episode of the Florida 6-A playoffs.

Bishop Amat High of La Puente, Calif. returned to the Top 25 this week after winning its 21st straight game, which included the National Classic title last week.

The staffs of Baseball America and the NHSBCA compile the Top 25 rankings. In-season polls will be conducted every two weeks and released every other Tuesday throughout the season. Records indicated are as of April 24 and do not include ties.
